My brother in law Jim suddenly had:
*loss of use of his right arm.
*his one side of his face was drooping.
*his thoughts were clear but he was unable to speak properly. (gibberish)
He knew he was having a stroke. And so did my sister in law.
Their quick action is what has saved his brain cells and is what has allowed him an almost 100 % recovery.
Time is critical.
If you or someone you know is suffering from a stroke, it is important that you get to the hospital immediately.
An ER doctor should do a cat scan to see if there is bleeding in the brain--
if there is no bleeding in the brain then thrombolytic therapy should be started immediately.
(Thrombolytic therapy is medicine to break up blood clots)
If this is done within three hours from the onset, brain tissue can be preserved.
